hi all, it’s battery here again. i liked doing that last review so much that i begged for another one (oh, stop, you naughty people!).
this time, the lube i tried is Sassy Intimate Gel [aka SLiquid Sassy Anal Lube], from Babeland. designed specifically for anal play, it is water based and actually smells quite pleasant (+0.5 for that!). the ingredients list is also only four items long, a welcome relief from lists so long you’ll lose your erection at the slightest glance. it is also glycerine- and paraben- free, for those of you who are sensitive to these products.
as i made quite clear last time, i much prefer using silicone-based lubes, but i’d have to say, this is one of the better water-based ones that i’ve tried (and i’ve tried a lot of them).
let’s start with the bottle, shall we? similar to the name, the bottle is clear with a silly pink and light blue label. at first, i was a little turned off by it – i’m not seven anymore, and have a fondness for cutting-edge design. still, it is a little hokey and, on the bottom of the label, it calls itself “booty formula,” which is cute. frustrating note: there are 17 “female” signs on the bottle, along with a cartoon image of a woman’s face, and no “male” signs. maybe i’m being picky, but babeland should know that loads of men like things in their bums, regardless of sexuality. all i’m sayin’ is that a little recognition of that would be nice. [note from big: babeland doesn't make this lube they only carry it. that said to my mind the manufacturer should definitely heed this kind of complaint.]
on to the product. the reason that i hate water-based lubes is that they always get sticky several minutes into use, particularly if you take a bit of a break (i’m talking, like, 45 seconds), and this one is no different. what is different, though, is that, by adding either a touch more lube or (even better) a bit of saliva, the slickness kicks in again. being on the kinky side, the idea of someone fucking me, having the friction increase, and then having him spit on my ass is, well… you can only imagine.
the same holds true when i used it on my own – i like its consistency and the fact that i can make it super-slick (wait, didn’t i mention that before? oh yeah – spitting on the lubricated area actually makes it even slipperier than the lube on its own). so, yes it still gets sticky, but it is easily fixable.
overall, i liked it, although not enough to switch back to water-based lubes. i’d recommend it for anyone who does prefer water-based, or may be concerned with staining their sheets (since silicone lube rarely comes out), and for anyone who is quite sensitive to chemicals. [big recommends this lube for toys made of silicone as well, remember, silicone lube eats silicone toys almost always.] my final score would be a 8/10, minus one for the hetero-normative, kitchy label, minus two for it being a water-based lube (the stickiness, particularly around the bum, still isn’t something that i enjoy, even for unstained sheets, hah), and plus half a point for the nice smell.
[big: the -2 for this lube being water based bugs me a little. it's water based lube, chances are you're choosing it for a reason. i'm thinking that over a good silicone like wet platinum it's like a 7 but that over any other water based lube on the market it's probably closer to a 9.]
that’s all from me, for now. and in the meantime, happy sexing!
battery.
